Situated near Port Askaig on the north-eastern shores of Islay, Caol Ila distillery produces peated spirit which fans have come to recognise by its signature smokiness and maritime notes. This Caol Ila single malt was distilled in 2016 and fully matured in a once used bourbon quarter cask.
The cask was bottled in collaboration with Drams & Drips and Whiskey Savage, who were brought together by a love of whisky and the goal of bringing greater selection to Canada. As a constant presence in the whisky community in the country, they look to spark discussion through each shared bottle.
The label shows a pine on the bay in Muskoka, an area known as a haven for those looking for an escape from the city and known worldwide for its lakeside beauty. It has been drawn in a pen sketch style by Toronto-based illustrator James Tuer, whose personal work draws inspiration from 80s sci-fi, vintage travel posters and 90s comic book art. He has also worked with some incredible brands to create outstanding pieces.
This single malt scotch whisky is non-chill filtered and naturally coloured, yielding 172 bottles at a cask strength of 57.2% ABV.
